Unconscionable

There is dirty politics, and there is scumbag politics.

I've been laying off the politically argumentative posts, but I feel a rant coming on...

I think Olbermann already made your rant for you.

Yeah Olbermann really lost it last night -- and what the hell was that in-studio cracking sound that made him flinch partway through? Kind of creepy given the subject matter.

Anyway, the impulse to rant has passed; now I'm just extremely weirded out.

Briefly: I get how this campaign has been extremely exhausting for the candidates. I get how people mis-speak when they're exhausted. I get how HRC was trying to make a historical point (even though her history wasn't entirely accurate) in order to shore up her slim-to-none chances of getting the nomination.

What I don't get is why the idea of "assassination" came up at all. Even if you're tired, and even if you've decided to mention RFK as an instance of a candidate who was running late in a given primary season -- what does assassination *really* have to do with that particular subject? It's relevant to his biography, yes, but how is it relevant to the notion of a primary that runs into June?

She just happened to say out loud something she's no doubt been privately thinking since early March.
